Jim Booth
Spotlight on SMILES Mentor Jim Booth
Jim Booth, retired 30+ year veteran and
former science department head at Cumberland High School, works with Providence
5th graders
in his new role as a SMILES Mentor. The SMILES Program (Science, Math,
Inquiry and Literacy for Every Student) is bringing a fresh
new approach to science education to every student in the Providence School
System through a 5-year agreement with the East Bay Educational Collaborative to
reform the K-8 science program.
Jim has been working with 5th graders in a large audience format - actually in the school cafeteria - where he models science instruction for the schools teachers and introduces the students to the world of magnetism and electricity.
