Narrative:
In Human Body Systems, students trace nutrients as they are processed by the digestive system, pass into the bloodstream, and are transported to individual cells. They explore the breathing mechanism: how oxygen enters the body, passes into the bloodstream, and is transported to individual cells where it combines with nutrients to release energy. An exploration of the transport system—the heart and blood vessels—is followed by a series of inquiries dealing with the use of the energy released during respiration by the musculoskeletal system.
